MARA Leather Warranty
At Mara Leather, we craft pieces meant to be worn for decades, and we back that promise with a Lifetime Warranty covering flaws in materials and workmanship. If a problem traces back to how your piece was made, we'll fix it by repairing, replacing, or rebuilding it.
What We Cover
- Leather: Genuine leather used in our jackets, vests, gloves, and other leather goods
- Hardware: Zippers, buckles, snaps, rivets, D-rings, and any other metal fittings
- Construction: Broken stitching, separated seams, and faulty linings
This applies to both ready-made and custom pieces, whether shipped within the country or abroad. Items made from canvas, denim, twill, or mesh aren't covered for fabric defects, though their hardware remains protected.
What We Don't Cover
- Natural aging: Fading, creasing, patina, and light surface scuffs that come with regular wear
- Accidents and misuse: Cuts, tears, punctures, burns, heat exposure, impact damage, and pet damage
- Changes made after purchase: Patches, added hardware or decorations, alterations by anyone other than Mara Leather, and dyes or chemical treatments
- Poor care: Machine washing, harsh cleaners, mold or mildew from improper storage, and water damage from soaking
A Note on Patches
After patches (iron-on, sewn, or adhesive) or any other permanent embellishments are added, the piece is no longer eligible for return, exchange, or warranty repair. Taking patches off harms the leather and stitching, so we couldn't accurately judge defects or restore the piece. Please confirm the fit and quality are right for you before customizing.
Protecting Your Coverage
- Use leather-specific cleaners and condition your piece on a regular basis
- Spot clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then allow it to air dry
- Keep your piece somewhere cool and dry, away from sunlight and heat
- Never machine wash or tumble dry, and avoid bleach and household cleaning products

Care Details
Fine leather lasts for years when it's cared for properly. Here's how to keep your Mara piece looking its best.
Please avoid
- Bleach or any harsh chemical cleaners
- Washing, soaking, or tumble drying
- Storing or hanging your piece folded, as creasing can leave permanent marks
- Heat sources (radiators, hairdryers, car dashboards) and prolonged moisture
- Storing in plastic or vinyl bags, which trap humidity and can dry out or damage the leather
- Prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade color and dry the surface
We recommend
- Wiping gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and surface dirt
- Following the Mara Leather care steps included with your purchase
- Storing in a breathable cloth bag (the dust bag provided is ideal)
- Hanging on padded or wooden hangers to preserve shape
- Visiting a professional leather specialist for deep cleaning or conditioning when needed
With a little care, your Mara Leather piece will age beautifully and last for years.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between half helmets, 3/4 helmets, and full-face helmets?
Half helmets cover the top of your head and leave your face, ears, and jaw exposed. 3/4 helmets add coverage over the ears and sides of the head but still leave the face open, and many include a visor or snaps for a face shield. Full-face helmets protect the entire head, including the chin. More coverage means more protection, while half helmets are lighter and more open.
2. Are half helmets safe?
Half helmets protect the top of your head from impact, but they leave your face, jaw, and ears unprotected, and most serious facial injuries in crashes involve the chin and jaw. A DOT-certified half helmet is far safer than no helmet, but 3/4 and full-face designs offer more protection. If you choose a half helmet, pair it with eye protection like goggles or a face shield.
3. What does DOT approved mean for motorcycle helmets?
DOT approved means the helmet is certified by its manufacturer as meeting the U.S. Department of Transportation’s FMVSS 218 safety standard, which covers impact absorption, penetration resistance, and strap retention. Look for a DOT sticker on the back of the helmet. Because DOT helmets are self-certified rather than pre-tested, some riders also look for ECE 22.06 or Snell ratings as extra assurance.
4. How can I tell if a DOT helmet is legitimate or a novelty helmet?
Legitimate DOT helmets have a permanent, thick DOT sticker with the manufacturer’s name, model, and size, plus a thick inner EPS foam liner (about an inch). Novelty helmets are thin, very lightweight, and often have a flimsy or missing label. A real helmet from a reputable brand will also have a consistent, quality-built shell and padding. Novelty helmets offer little to no real protection and can get you a ticket.
5. How do I choose the right size for biker helmets?
Measure your head with a soft tape about an inch above your eyebrows and around the widest part of your head, then compare to the brand’s size chart. A good fit feels snug all around with no pressure points, and your cheeks should move when you shake your head rather than the helmet sliding over your skin. Sizing varies by brand and head shape (round, intermediate, or oval), so try before you buy when possible.
6. How often should I replace my motorcycle helmet?
Most manufacturers and safety groups recommend replacing a helmet every 5 years, or sooner with heavy use, because the liner and materials degrade over time. Replace it immediately after any crash or hard impact, even if there’s no visible damage, since the foam inside may be compromised. Also replace it if the padding is compressed or the strap is frayed.
7. Which is better for cruiser riders: half helmets, 3/4 helmets, or full-face helmets?
Many cruiser and Harley riders like half helmets and 3/4 helmets for their classic look, airflow, and comfort in hot weather. 3/4 helmets are a popular middle ground since they add ear and side coverage and often accept a visor. For highway speeds, long rides, or the highest level of protection, a full-face or modular helmet is the better choice.
8. Do I need to wear a helmet by law, and does it have to be DOT certified?
Helmet laws vary by state. Some states require all riders to wear a helmet, some require it only for riders under a certain age, and a few have no requirement. In states with helmet laws, the helmet generally must meet DOT standards, so a non-certified novelty helmet won’t satisfy the law. Check your state’s current rules before you ride.
